Pat Blide – Iron Work & Metal Sculpture

When did you decide to become an artist?

When I decided to commit myself. Having a great outlet for my art like Riverside Studios has made it feasible.

Were you cautioned or encouraged to do metal work as a means to make a living?

I was encouraged. Growing up in rural Afton Minnesota spending my youth working in farmer's fields and shops, my ability to weld was appreciated. Little did I know that creative problem solving would later serve me well as a sculptor.

Is there something the world should know about you and/or the metal work that you do?

If these Spike People magically come alive we will all be speaking "Spike" by morning. I have that many of them.

What make's you want to stick with it?

I love creating and have a million ideas in my head. I actually use the dewy decimal system! Making people smile doing what I love to do is incredible.
